BUILDING
SUPPORTIVE WORK ENVIRONMENTS
Home
Health employers face high turnover and vacancies among
frontline staff. This rapid churning among home health
aides undermines the quality of care delivered to clients
while also draining agency resources. To address this
problem, PHI is helping employers build more supportive
work environments that recognize frontline workers for
the valuable role they play in client care.
To
build a more supportive work environment, employers
must take two important steps:
- Recognize
and demonstrate that they value the critical role
that home health aides play in the delivery of care;
- Help workers
overcome barriers to stable, long-term employment.
PHI's consultants
offer presentations, educational programs, and on-site
support in the following key areas:
- Improving
frontline supervisory skills
- Designing
and implementing peer mentoring programs and other
career advancement opportunities
- Linking
home health aides to case management services
