New York City Home Health Aides Get 10% Wage Boost

With the minimum wage in New York City rising to $11 per hour at the end of the year, home health aides will see a full dollar added to their existing $10 per hour base wage. Their total base compensation will cross the $15 per hour mark for the first time.

Direct Care Workforce Data Subject of Federal Recommendations

Two major developments are shining a federal spotlight on the direct care workforce. In July, the Federal Office of Management and Budget released recommended changes to the 2018 Standard Occupational Classification System—including definitions of direct care occupations. And in September, the U.S. Government Accountability Office released recommendations that could improve how the federal government assesses the direct care workforce.
