The Bernard F. and Alva B. Gimbel Foundation is a private family foundation that supports direct services in New York City and advocacy efforts related to areas of funding including the environment, criminal justice, economic development, reproductive rights, and civil legal services.
Support from the Gimbel Foundation allowed PHI to support the creation of a home care worker ombudsman to help workers understand their rights and defend them against unfair treatment. This position was established by the New York City Council in 2016 through the creation of the city’s Division of Paid Care.
