After Sandy

October 31, 2012

As our New York-based staff grapples with the aftermath of Sandy, PHI would like to express its hope that everyone affected by the storm — especially elders, people with disabilities, and direct-care workers — is safe and secure wherever they may be.

The dedication of the direct-care workforce shines especially bright during difficult times.

In the Bronx, for example, Cooperative Home Care Associates (CHCA), a PHI affiliate, has not let the storm damage its commitment to helping elders and people with disabilities receive care in their homes.

Even in the midst of flooding and a severely damaged NYC mass-transit system, CHCA’s home care aides are making every effort to get to clients’ homes.

Despite the challenges that the storm presents, direct-care workers across the Northeast and mid-Atlantic states remain deeply committed to their work.

PHI extends its thoughts to everyone affected by the storm.
