Discussion on “Job Quality through Innovative Business Models” Now Online

October 31, 2013

Improving Job Quality through Innovative Business Models, a panel discussion sponsored by the Aspen Institute on October 10 in Washington, D.C., is now available online.

The panelists discuss alternative business models, including worker-owned cooperatives, B Corps companies, and businesses with employee stock ownership programs.

PHI Founder, Past President, and Strategic Advisor Steven Dawson explains the employee-owned cooperative model, drawing from his extensive experience on the boards of the Bronx-based Cooperative Home Care Associates (CHCA) and Philadelphia-based Home Care Associates (HCA). Both agencies are PHI affiliates.

CHCA and HCA were recently honored with placement on the “B Corp Best for the Workers List,” Dawson notes. The agencies were recognized as B Corporations in 2012.

Also on the panel are:

  • Albert Fuller, CEO and chairman, Integrated Packaging Corporation
  • Jamie Raskin, Maryland state senator and professor at American University‘s Washington College of Law
  • Camille Kerr, research director, The National Center for Employee Ownership

Washington Post reporter Lydia DePillis moderated the discussion.
