Pelosi and Other Advocates to Discuss Women Workers

January 27, 2014

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, Calif.) and Lilly Ledbetter will join the Direct Care Alliance and other advocates for women workers for a “telephone town hall” meeting on January 29.

The issues of wage equality, affordable child care, and paid sick leave will all be discussed.

According to PHI research (pdf), nearly 90 percent of direct-care workers are female, and earn an average of just $17,000 a year.

The telephone town hall meeting will take place at 8:30 EST on Jan. 29, the fifth anniversary of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.

Actor Cynthia Nixon will moderate the meeting.

Participants must register online, and will receive a phone call at the start of the event.
