PHI Joins NLN for Licensed Practical Nurse Trainings

October 22, 2015

PHI is collaborating with the National League for Nursing (NLN) to incorporate important new skills into licensed practical nurse (LPN) training programs.

PHI and NLN will launch the initiative, which is entitled Integrating Geriatrics and Coaching Skills into Practical Nursing Programs, in four key states: California, New York, Texas, and Florida.

The initiative incorporates skills from PHI’s Coaching Supervision® training program as well as from NLN’s Advancing Care Excellence for Seniors project.

“We are excited to be partnering with the National League for Nursing,” PHI Coaching & Consulting Services National Director Susan Misiorski said in an NLN press release.

“Our two organizations have a shared vision to improve quality of care through a better prepared workforce,” she added. “This grant gives us the opportunity to reach LPN instructors — ensuring LPN programs have evidence-based geriatric content along with the coaching communication skills that make person-centered care possible.”

The project is being funded by the Retirement Research Foundation, a Chicago-based organization devoted to addressing aging and retirement issues.
