The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation

Owings Mills, Maryland

The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation makes grants to nonprofits that provide direct services to low-income and vulnerable individuals and families, primarily in the United States and Israel. Grants are focused on meeting basic needs and enabling an individual to live as independently as possible. Within that focus, emphasis is placed on serving older adults and the Jewish community.

With lead funding from the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, PHI’s Home Care Aide Workforce Initiative (HAWI) provided high-quality home health aide training and employment opportunities to 600 people and specialized training to 400 incumbent workers between 2012 and 2014. Program participants were more than twice as likely to keep their jobs at three months and 64 percent more likely to be retained at six months compared to workers hired before HAWI.
