Carol Rodat of PHI Selected for IOM Study Committee

November 13, 2014

PHI New York Policy Director Carol Rodat has been appointed to a new Institute of Medicine (IOM) study committee for its “Study for Family Caregiving for Older Adults.”

The committee will be responsible for analyzing the most recent information about family caregivers of older adults. Among the issues they will examine are unmet care needs, differences in needs associated with factors such as race and ethnicity, and progress in delivery reform, the IOM website says.

The committee will also study the gap between the number of caregivers needed and the caregivers available.

The 21-member study committee is expected to issue a report in the spring of 2016 with its findings and recommendations for health delivery system reform and other policies and actions to support family caregivers.

This consensus study is sponsored by 15 organizations, including The John A. Hartford Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association, and Retirement Research Foundation.
