Dawson Inducted into the Cooperative Hall of Fame

May 9, 2013

PHI Strategic Advisor Steven L. Dawson, who founded PHI and served as its president until September 2012, was inducted into the Cooperative Hall of Fame on May 8 amidst a sea of supporters in Washington, DC.

Dawson was honored as a “Cooperative Hero” by the Cooperative Development Foundation for being a key figure in laying the intellectual and structural groundwork of the worker cooperative movement.

His many accomplishments in the cooperative sector span decades and include the founding of two worker-owner home care agencies, Cooperative Home Care Associates in the Bronx and Home Care Associates in Philadelphia — both affiliates of PHI.

The award was presented to Steven by Aaron Dawson, who following in his father’s footsteps, works with Equal Exchange, a Fair Trade Massachusetts worker co-op.
