Early-Bird Registration for HCBS Conference Ends Aug. 15

The deadline for early-bird registration for the 2014 National Home & Community Based Services Conference is August 15.

The conference will be held September 15-18 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia.

A preliminary conference schedule (pdf) includes dozens of different workshops on topics ranging from elder abuse laws to dementia care.

A workshop on the morning of September 18, “Establishing Matching Services Registries to Help Consumers Find Caregivers,” will feature PHI staff.

Participants in the workshop will learn how registries in Oregon, California, and several northeastern states are using technology to match consumers who need in-home support with caregivers to meet their needs, and how registries are being used to build and sustain the long-term services and supports workforce.

Presenters include:

  • Abby Marquand, PHI Director of Policy Research
  • Eli Gelardin, Executive Director of the Marin Center for Independent Living;
  • Cheryl Miller, Executive Director of the Oregon Home Care Commission; and
  • Jeff Keilson, Vice President of Rewarding Work Resources, Inc.
