Home Care Agencies Selected as “B Corp Best for the World”

April 22, 2015

Two home care agencies — Cooperative Home Care Associates (CHCA) in the Bronx and Home Care Associates (HCA) in Philadelphia — have been named to the B Corp Best for the World list for the third straight year.

CHCA and HCA, both PHI affiliates, became the first home care agencies in the country to become certified B Corporations, a distinction that reflects their commitment to making a positive impact on their workers and communities.

They were both named to the Best for the World list, which compiles the top 10 percent of B Corporations according to the B Impact Assessment metric, in 2013.

Also, for the third straight year, both agencies were additionally named to the 2015 Best for Workers list, based on various other metrics related to retention and turnover. CHCA, for example, ranked in the 84th percentile for job placement rate, the 91st percentile for retention at three months, and the 84th percentile for retention at six months.

CHCA also placed on this year’s listing of Best for Community B Corporations, which lists companies that have made “the most positive community impact.”

To date, the nonprofit company B Lab has designated approximately 1,000 Certified B Corporations from around the world, including Ben & Jerry’s, RSF Capital Management, and Etsy. Only 120 were named to the Best for the World list.
