HRSA Announces New Funding Opportunity to Support Health Care Workforce Development

January 8, 2015

The Health Services and Resource Administration‘s (HRSA) Bureau of Health Workforce (BHW) has announced a new funding opportunity, entitled the 2015 Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP).

The purpose of the opportunity is to “support the development of a health care workforce that improves health outcomes for older adults by integrating geriatrics with primary care, maximizing patient and family engagement, and transforming the healthcare system.”

Accredited health professions schools and programs, including programs leading to certification as a certified nursing assistant, are eligible to apply. The deadline to apply is March 5.

PHI has a multi-decade history of strengthening direct-care workforce training, deployment, and supports — practices that can help to improve quality and efficiency across the spectrum of healthcare delivery.

For a range of health care providers, PHI offers technical assistance in curriculum development, entry-level and incumbent training models, coaching support, communications, and problem-solving, and strengthening interdisciplinary and inter-professional collaboration.

If your organization is designing a GWEP project, PHI would welcome the opportunity to explore serving as a collaborating partner. For more information, please contact info@phinational.org.
