Lessons learned in creating a successful CNA retention program

This article discusses a CNA retention program, CareWorks, created by Integrated Health Systems (IHS). The newly implemented program focuses on establishing a career ladder where CNAs are offered incentives in pay and title for completing specific benchmarks. The author argues that the essential ingredients for program success are a dedicated organizational commitment, strong leadership, public recognition of the CNAs achievements, and a continuous effort to improve the work life of staff.
