This 2006 report to Congress assesses the current and projected supply and demand for direct support professionals serving individuals with intellectual and other development disabilities, examining factors relating to recruitment and retention, and the implications of failing to meet growing demand. It reviews several innovative federal, state, local, and non-profit initiatives, and concludes that efforts to meet future demand will require sustained efforts across multiple systems and organizations.
