Home Care Aide Safety Concerns and Job Challenges During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Using a journaling approach of home care aides in New York and Michigan, this study identified challenges home care aides faced during the pandemic. Participants identified concerns around safety, accessing PPE, safe transportation, and whether clients has COVID, among others. Home care agencies struggled with some of the same challenges, indicating that future emergency planning should ensure supports for home care workers and home care agencies.
