Future demand for long-term care workers will be influenced by demographic and utilization changes

Uses data from several sources to predict that the number of home health aides and personal care aides will need to increase by 88 percent between 2010 and 2030 to keep up with demand, while the number of nursing assistants must grow by 68 percent over the same time period to keep pace. They conclude that policymakers should work to bolster funding for recruitment, retention, and training for long-term care workers.
