PHI Takes the Stage at ‘Aging in America’ National Conference

By Robert Espinoza (he/him) | March 1, 2018

The rapid growth in older Americans and increased life expectancy are two of the primary factors driving demand for long-term care in this country.

Direct care workers—professionals who provide support to older people and people with disabilities—are the paid frontline for this care. Between 2016 and 2026, the direct care workforce is projected to grow by 30 percent—from 4.4 million to 5.8 million workers. Home care jobs are the largest growing job sector in the country. Unfortunately, direct care workers often struggle in these jobs to make ends meet and to deliver high quality care. In turn, about 60 percent leave their jobs within a year, which destabilizes care for millions of older people.

How should our industry respond?

These are some of the reasons PHI is bringing our expertise to the Aging in America conference, March 26-30, in San Francisco, CA. Hosted annually by the American Society on Aging, this conference draws more than 3,000 professionals from around the country.
