The dual pressures of family caregiving and employment

Examines the mental and financial toll experienced by family caregivers. Using data from a previously published survey, the author shows that a majority of family caregivers (60 percent) also work at a paying job. More than one third (37 percent) of family caregivers with jobs say that their situation is highly stressful, while 17 percent of caregivers said they left their job so they can concentrate on providing care to a loved one.
